Rigpay Dhondok
Born at place called Serta in Kham region of Tibet, Rigpay Dhondok's family leads a semi nomadic life. His family sent him to India to become a monk in one of three great monasteries. Due to sudden change in climatic condition and diets, he faced difficulties to adapting to the food and environment. These days, he is doing quite well and studying in 1st Standard of Drepung Gomang School where he will get opportunity to learn and study modern subjects such as English, mathematics and Science. |

Thinlay Gyatso
Thinlay Gyatso, from the childhood wants to become a monk and their family consider it auspicious to send their son to one of the temple or monastery in their native place in Kham region, Tibet. So Thinlay Gyatso at the age of 13 became a monk at his native place. As there is more opportunity to do more traditional monastic studies, specifically the philosophy studies in India as compared in Tibet, the elders and his family decided to take the journey risk to send him to India. So he joined Drepung Gomang Monastery in 2005 to pursue his monastic studies. |

Tsultrim Phuntsok
Tsultrim Phuntsok came to India in 2005 to pursue traditional monastic studies, traveling through the heavily guarded border, days and nights. His family always wish for their son to study in one of the great monastic college in India and to get blessing from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He was able to get His Holiness's blessing at Dharamsala and now he is studying at Drepung Gomang Monastery in south India. He is also getting some teachings in modern education. |
Lobsang Samphel
Born in Dharamsala, popular known as Lhasa in exile India. Lobsang Samphel always wants to become a monk and have so much fondness for his monk brother who used to visit him during the holidays. He joined the school at Dharamsala and studied there till class III. In 2005, he became a monk and joined the monastery. Currently he is studying in class IV in Gomang school and staying with his monk brother. |
Lobsang Tsering
People in Tibet considered sending one of their sons to one of the monastery as great auspicious custom. Born in 1993 at Chamdo in Tibet, his family earn their living by farming and raising domestic animals. His family thinking that if their son join monkhood then he will lead a life where he can also teach the teachings of Lord Buddha and His Holiness to others. In 2005 they decided to send their son to India as it will be good for his future to study in monastery as well as he will get blessing from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He is at present studying in 2nd standard of Drepung Gomang School where he is taught modern subjects as well traditional religious subjects. |
