Sacred Art Tour 2008

Canadian Friends of Drepung Gomang is honoured to bring another group of monks from Drepung Gomang Monastery to Canada for a national tour beginning March 30, 2008 TBD. The purpose of the 2008 tour is to raise awareness and help educate people in the rich arts and culture of Tibet as well as the importance of the Tibetan Monasteries as central components of Tibetan Culture. Money raised during the tour will go towards the food and medical funds set up at Drepung Gomang Monastery for the nearly 2,000 monks residing there.

Tibetan Buddhism is intricately woven into the culture and heritage of the Tibetan people and the tour will provide insight into this combination of spiritual and artistic expression. This event will also provide a means of preserving this prominent place of worship and study through donations and the sale of hand-made merchandise.
