Tibetan Protesting

Canadian Friends of Drepung Gomang wishes to send out a message of support and best wishes to the monks of Drepung Gomang as well as Tibetans worldwide during this time of struggle and change. We hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict with China and for the safety of everyone involved.

Every culture has unique qualities that should be shared and treasured by every nation. Both Tibet and China are ancient cultures that deserve to be cherished and respected. In the coming months we hope that people all around the world will remember this and strive to help these two great peoples resolve their disputes in a peaceful and constructive manner as His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has suggested now for many years. By working together change can be effected and with the support of friends worldwide, new friendships can be forged.

03/24/08 UPDATE: The 2008 Sacred Art Tour from Drepung Gomang has been postponed until April 12th. Unfortunately, due to the recent protests worldwide and tension in India and Tibet, we have been forced to push the dates back at this time. We will advise everyone of additional changes in the coming days/weeks should they be necessary. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our local coordinators/venues, and will do our best to ensure that this event resumes as soon as possible.

What is Canadian Friends of Drepung Gomang?

Canadian Friends of Drepung Gomang is a not-for-profit organization that has been established in order to try and provide further assistance and relief to the Drepung Gomang monastery and all of its inhabitants in hopes of helping to improve their overall living conditions and quality of life.

It is our sincere wish that our organization can continue to provide assistance and support to Drepung Gomang for many years to come while the incredible individuals living there try to preserve and rebuild their culture.
